Mombasa: Person of interest arrested as police seize stash of narcotics
By Ascah Mwango, October 28, 2025Police in Maganda have arrested an individual and seized a stash of suspected narcotics following an intelligence-led operation in the area.
According to a statement from the National Police Service (NPS) on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, officers from Maganda Police Station conducted the operation targeting drug trafficking and illicit alcohol. During the raid, police recovered 32 rolls and 40 sachets of a substance believed to be narcotics.

The person of interest was taken into custody and is being processed before arraignment in court. Police say investigations are ongoing to establish the source of the drugs and whether the individual is linked to a larger distribution network.
The NPS commended the officers involved in the operation for their continued efforts in combating the sale and use of illegal substances. The Service also urged members of the public to keep sharing information that could help in the fight against drug and alcohol abuse.
“Officers from Maganda Police Station yesterday conducted an intelligence-led operation targeting narcotics and illicit alcohol in the Maganda area. They arrested one suspect and recovered 32 rolls and 40 sachets of a substance believed to be narcotics. The suspect was taken to the station and placed in custody, pending processing and arraignment in court,” the authorities stated.
Adding;
“The National Police Service commends the officers for their unwavering commitment to combating illicit alcohol and narcotics. Members of the public are encouraged to continue sharing timely information to aid in the fight against crime.”

This comes after police officers on patrol along the Busia–Kisumu Road intercepted a passenger bus transporting two bales of bhang in an anti-narcotics operation on Monday, October 27, 2025.
According to the NPS, the officers stopped and searched the bus at Yala Bridge on the Kampala–Nairobi route after noticing suspicious activity.

“Upon conducting a thorough search, the officers recovered two bales of a green substance suspected to be cannabis sativa, which had been sealed with yellow cellotape,” the police statement read.
Two passengers linked to the consignment were arrested and placed in custody pending arraignment. The recovered drugs have been secured as exhibits.
“The National Police Service reiterates its commitment to intensifying the fight against drug trafficking across the country,” NPS added.
