Man linked to multiple violent robberies arrested in Changamwe

The person of interest, identified as Stephen Omondi, alias Omosh, was apprehended by officers from Changamwe Police Station while on routine patrol in the BBC area.
According to a statement by the National Police Service (NPS) issued on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, Omondi has been on the police radar for multiple robberies carried out alongside accomplices, often while armed with a machete.
His arrest marks a major breakthrough in efforts to curb rising incidents of violent crime in the region.
“Officers from Changamwe Police Station arrested Stephen Omondi, alias “Omosh,” a notorious wanted criminal, while on patrol in the BBC area. Omondi has been wanted in connection with multiple violent robberies, committed while in the company of accomplices and armed with a machete,” NPS wrote on X.

According to the police, Omondi was arraigned in court on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, where he faced two counts of robbery with violence, an offence that carries a potential life sentence under Kenyan law.
Meanwhile, a manhunt has been launched to track down his accomplices, who remain at large. Police have urged the suspects to surrender and warned that officers are closing in on them.
Changamwe officers commended
The NPS commended the Changamwe officers for their vigilance and swift action, noting that such proactive policing continues to play a critical role in safeguarding the public.
“He was arraigned in court earlier today to face two counts of robbery with violence. Police officers have launched a manhunt to trace and apprehend his accomplices, who are still at large. The National Police Service commends the officers involved for their vigilance and commitment,” NPS stated.
Authorities are now appealing to members of the public to support ongoing efforts to combat crime by sharing information that could aid investigations.
