Detectives nab man linked to drink spiking travellers in Mombasa
By Cynthia Lodite, September 23, 2025Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have apprehended a man linked to a series of drugging travellers and then stealing from them while they are asleep.
In a statement by the detectives on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, DCI revealed that the person of interest has been on police radar for a while now.

According to DCI from Mombasa, the person of interest has been known for his notorious behaviour of spiking travellers’ drinks.
Likewise, the Mombasa Urban detectives have revealed that several victims had reported the same person at Mombasa Central Police Station.
“Detectives have been on his trail after a series of stupefying and stealing cases were reported at Mombasa Central Police Station,” DCI noted.
According to the DCI, the person of interest has been drugging unsuspecting passengers travelling to Mombasa, Kisumu, Tanzania, and beyond, then robbing them of their hard-earned cash and valuables while they snooze.

Arrest
DCI further revealed that at the time of his arrest at the Mariakani Weighbridge, he was high on drugs. Sharp-eyed detectives then boarded a Nairobi-bound bus and ended his drugged-up heist spree.

On the other hand, devices reveal that after he was nabbed, the detectives found him with a bag of tricks.
After a thorough search, the detectives found two Lorivan tablets, soft drinks, and snacks believed to be laced with sedatives, all ready for his next unsuspecting victims.

DCI stated that the person of interest is currently cooling his heels behind bars as detectives prepare for his arraignment.
