DCI nabs 6 in Kajiado gang terror crackdown
By William Muthama, September 5, 2025Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have apprehended six persons of interest believed to be behind a spate of gang-related incidents in Kajiado County.
Speaking through a statement on Friday, September 5, 2025, the DCI confirmed that five of the individuals were intercepted while travelling in a motor vehicle in Kagio, Kirinyaga County.
Authorities recovered items believed to have been used for surveillance, including walkie-talkies, multiple SIM cards, cellotapes, mobile phones, spotlights, and surgical gloves.
“The items recovered indicate that these persons of interest were on reconnaissance missions to facilitate criminal activity,” the statement read.
Investigators said the individuals are suspected of having gathered intelligence to plan further criminal operations.
Wider Security Sweep
The statement further confirmed that the operation was extended to Kiserian in Kajiado County, where another person of interest was apprehended.
Law enforcement recovered an AK-47 rifle loaded with seven rounds of ammunition, a walkie-talkie, a teargas canister, and various housebreaking implements.
“Our focus remains on dismantling networks that perpetuate gang terror and ensure the safety of the residents of Kajiado County,” the DCI added.
Officials emphasised that the arrests form part of broader efforts to strengthen security in areas affected by organised crime.
All six persons of interest are currently in custody and will remain detained pending arraignment in court. Authorities urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to local law enforcement.
