Zuchu: I am yet to receive full payment for CHAN show
By Paulette Mboga, September 18, 2025Tanzanian singer Zuchu has raised concerns over unpaid fees from her performance at the African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024 finale in Nairobi.
The show took place on August 30, but according to the artist, the agreed-upon balance has not been settled despite repeated follow-ups.
In a formal statement addressed to CHAN and the Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Instagram on Thursday, September 18, 2025, Zuchu said she was frustrated by the delay in receiving her payment.

She explained that her management had been in communication with LEAP Creative Agency, the company that handled the event, but no solution had been reached.
The singer noted that proof of payment documents sent by the agency turned out to be unverifiable and suspicious. “Despite my team’s continuous patience and understanding, I have yet to receive the full payment,” Zuchu stated.

She added that she had sacrificed other previously booked shows to prioritise the CHAN finale, making the matter more disappointing.
Her letter mentioned direct communication with LEAP Creative Agency’s CEO, Roshan Soomarshun, but said the promises made had not been honoured.
Warning of further action
Zuchu insisted that as a professional, she expected fairness and respect in business dealings. She described the delay as “completely unacceptable” and warned that she would have no choice but to take further action if the balance was not settled immediately.
“It is integral that the balance is settled without any further delay or postponement; otherwise, I will have no choice but to pursue further action to recover the funds owed,” her statement read.
The singer urged the organisers to act promptly, noting that honouring agreements was essential in maintaining professionalism within the entertainment industry. She expressed disappointment that a prestigious continental event such as CHAN could be linked to payment disputes.
“It is integral that the balance is settled immediately without any further delay or postponement; otherwise, I will have no choice but to pursue further action to recover the funds owed. I trust you will take immediate steps to resolve this matter and honour the terms of our agreement,” Zuchu said.
The matter places renewed attention on how event organisers and agencies handle artists who perform at major international shows, especially when their reputations and livelihoods are at stake.
