Queen Darleen, the half-sister of Tanzanian heavy-hitter Diamond Platnumz, says her award-winning brother will not marry Kenya’s Tanasha Oketch anytime soon because “he is not ready to settle down”.
Speaking recently to Tanzania’s Global Publishers, Darleen, whose real name is Mwanajuma Abdul Juma, said Diamond Platnumz fears that if he marries now, “he will lose most of his female fans”.
Darleen, 34, further said that Diamond’s biggest wish is that he marries more than one woman, but “now is not the ripe time for that”.
“He and I often talk about matters marriage and relationships. Diamond really fears locking himself up in a marital cage. He says he wants to settle down when he is ready, and I don’t think he is currently up for it,” said Darleen, who shares a father with Diamond Platnumz, 30.
Darleen’s remarks come a few months after Dar es Salaam regional commissioner, Paul Makonda, urged Diamond to shun marriage for now so as to keep hold of her female fans’ loyalty.
“When you are a male artiste whose fans largely comprise women, then know that if you marry, all the women who adore you will lose interest in you and your music. Sometimes it leaves you wondering whether it was even possible to marry all of them,” said Makonda.
Diamond and Tanasha started dating in November 2018, seven months after the musician was ditched by his Ugandan lover at the time, Zari Hassan.
Diamond and Tanasha, who had initially planned their wedding for February 14, 2019, cancelled the ceremony, saying they needed more time to plan an elaborate ceremony that will attract the likes of American rapper Rick Ross.
The couple share a son, who was born on October 2, 2019.
