‘I can’t believe it’ – Shorn Arwa overjoyed after recovering her Instagram account after 2 years

The influencer, known for her engaging unfiltered storytelling and vibrant online presence, shared the exciting news with her followers on Saturday, February 15, 2025.
Shorn Arwa revealed she lost access to her account in February 2023 while in South Africa after misplacing her phone. Since it was her only trusted device, she could not log back into Instagram.
She noted that despite seeking help from various tech experts and spending a significant amount of money in attempts to regain access, nothing worked. Left with no other option, she had to create a new account from scratch, which led to the loss of business opportunities, as many brands prefer working with influencers with an established following.
“In February of 2023, I lost my phone in South Africa. Since it was my only trusted device, I couldn’t log back into Instagram. I tried all the internet gurus, but nothing happened. I spent so much money trying to get it back, but nothing worked. I had to start a new account from scratch, and that meant I lost jobs (because) coz no company wants an influencer with zero followers,” she narrated.
Sentimental value
The mother of one revealed that her original account held sentimental value, marking the beginning of her online journey. It was the platform that helped her gain recognition and grow her audience. Despite the setback, she remained hopeful that one day she would regain access.
In her statement, she narrated that while staying up late to tend to her baby, she decided to try logging into the account one more time. To her surprise, she was successful, regaining control of the account the same month she had lost it two years ago.
Arwa expressed her disbelief and happiness at the unexpected recovery, noting that the account was more than just a social media page for her—it represented years of dedication and hard work.
“It was so painful and sad, but I just never gave up. I knew one day I would get this account back. I know to most it’s just an account like any other, but to me it was what brought me to the light. I had a crazy attachment to it. All the hard work, all the struggle, and all the story times started with this account. My baby was having a really hard time sleeping, so I stayed up till around 3 am, and something weird was like, try logging in and see, and aaaaaand after 2 years, I got it back the same month I lost it. 😭. I can’t believe it,” the influencer added.
