Salasya set to launch inspiration book

By , July 16, 2025

Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has added author to his growing list of titles, announcing the upcoming launch of his first book, From the Ashes I Soar.

In a statement shared on his X account on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, Salasya invited Kenyans to register for the launch event, which will be held on August 2, 2025, at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi.

“The above is a registration link for those joining me on 2nd August for my book launch at KICC. It’s an inspirational book. Register so that I may get to know how many guests will be attending,” he announced.

Humble background

While it is not clear what the contents of the upcoming literally piece will be, Salasya has consistently been open about his background, using his story to encourage others, especially young people, to remain hopeful regardless of their circumstances.

On August 10, 2024, he shared a photo of his family’s home from two years ago. It was a modest structure that housed his mother and younger twin siblings before he ventured into politics.

In the post, he explained the challenges he faced growing up. He recalled that the house had no windows and was poorly ventilated. At the time, he often slept on the floor because he did not have a bed.

“Hapa ndio ilikuwa nyumbani and our house two years ago. That house is ours, belonging to my mother and my twin brother and sister, wenye wananifuata yani our last born. Ndio walikuwa wanalala hapo. Kangu kako chini kidogo hakakuwa hata na dirisha na sikuwa na kitanda. Nilikuwa nalala chini. True story,” he wrote.

Salasya also posted an image of a campaign vehicle, a double-cabin pickup, that was provided by Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) leader Eugene Wamalwa during his campaign.

In the background of the image was his mother’s humble home, which highlighted the tough living conditions he came from. He noted that the house where he used to sleep was further away and not visible in the photo.

“Anything is possible, just keep trying and being hopeful. You are going to change your home through your career or business you are chasing today. God is faithful, just believe him in your heart and work hard and sacrifice what we call foregone cost opportunities in business studies.”

Peter Salasya rose to national attention when he won the Mumias East parliamentary seat under the DAP-K ticket.
