Rachael Otuoma defends herself amid calls to apologise over insulting remark to fan

Ezekiel Otuoma’s widow and TikToker Rachael has spoken out for the first time since coming under fire over her harsh remarks to a fan during a live phone promotion session on TikTok.

Rachael, who has been trending after blasting off a follower who had asked her to buy her a phone, rejected calls for an apology and instead maintained that the fan should be the one apologising.

Speaking during a live phone call with TikToker Bosskhan on Saturday, September 13, 2025, she explained that the situation was triggered by the follower’s earlier comment, which accused her of killing her late husband, Otuoma, in order to gain wealth.

According to Otuoma, it was that provocation which made her react angrily when the same person returned to demand a phone.

“I reacted the way I did because that fan had written two comments. Before the one asking me to buy her a phone, she had commented on my live saying that I killed my husband Otuoma in order to get money. Then she came back and told me to buy her a phone. Why would she call me a murderer?”

She noted that the trending clip being circulated online only captured her insulting response, but left out the offensive remarks that had been directed at her.

Rachael stated that she had long stopped reacting to such negative comments, but this particular one deeply hurt her since it touched on her personal loss, forcing her to defend herself immediately.

“That is why I reacted immediately. I had already stopped responding to the things people say, but how can she come to my live and write such things and then ask me to buy her a phone? Now people are only taking the part that trended where I was insulting her,” she said.

The TikToker stressed that she has gifted fans items on numerous occasions whenever requests were made politely, insisting that she is not opposed to generosity.

However, she emphasised that it was unfair for someone to first label her a murderer and then expect favours from her.

“I have bought things for many people before when they asked me politely. If it is about apologising, that girl should be the one to apologise to me first, not me.”

Rachael said she would only consider apologising to her brand for the sake of its image, confirming that she had already discussed the matter with them.

She made it clear that she does not believe she owes the fan or the wider public any apology, reiterating that she is human and felt wounded by the accusations directed at her.

“Why did she call me a murderer? Many people have asked me for phones while I am at work, and I have never responded to them the way I responded to her. I am a human being, and I felt bad about what she said; that is why I answered her. I will speak to my fans to explain to them. The only part I can apologise for is to my brand, and we have already discussed that. But the rest, no. I am a human being, and as that girl herself said, I insulted her,” she added.
