Obinna suspends personal acts of kindness after Shalkido’s tragic death
By Nancy Marende, October 9, 2025Media personality and content creator Oga Obinna has announced the suspension of all personal, one-on-one acts of kindness and charitable assistance to individuals following what he described as a wave of defamation, manipulation, and malicious online behaviour.
In an official statement released by Obinna TV Studios on October 9, 2025, the entertainer stated that the decision comes after repeated instances where his genuine efforts to uplift people in need were exploited by online bloggers and social media users for attention and clout.
According to Obinna, what began as sincere gestures of compassion has now turned into a toxic cycle of false accusations, trolling, and exploitation, forcing him to draw a line between personal kindness and structured charity work.
“What began as genuine efforts to uplift those in need has been met with fabricated stories, malicious trolling, and profound ingratitude that seeks to destroy rather than appreciate,” the statement read.

The statement emphasised that Obinna’s decision was not a sign of pride or selfishness but a necessary step to protect his peace, reputation, and brand integrity.
“Oga Obinna is NOT God, capable of helping everyone; not obligated to respond to every request for assistance; not subject to blackmail, manipulation, or public pressure to give; and not responsible for individual life circumstances beyond his voluntary help,” it stated.

He further reminded the public that destiny cannot be altered by human intervention, stating that people’s breakthroughs will still manifest, whether with or without his help.
“Whatever is destined to happen in someone’s life will manifest with or without Oga Obinna’s intervention. He is simply an instrument, not the source of anyone’s success,” the statement added.
Despite suspending personal interventions, Obinna assured his fans and followers that structured charity and community outreach programs under Obinna TV Studios and the Obinna TV Foundation will continue as scheduled.
The statement also clarified that while Steve (the individual behind the Obinna brand) retains his personal autonomy, the decision concerns explicitly the Oga Obinna public brand and its activities.
Legal implications
Additionally, Obinna has warned that individuals, bloggers, and online content creators who continue to spread false, defamatory, or unverified claims about his charitable work will face legal consequences.
“Individuals, bloggers, and content creators publishing unwarranted, unverified, or defamatory remarks will face legal action. We have tolerated baseless accusations long enough. Documentation is underway, and accountability will be pursued to the fullest extent of the law,” the statement warned.
“If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go into hell.”
The decision comes in the wake of the tragic death of artist Shalkido, which sparked online debates and misinterpretations surrounding acts of compassion and public image.
