Kenyan content creator Ntazola Gloria, popularly known for her viral 2024 scuffle with a Nairobi City Council officer, has shared her thoughts on who she believes would make the ideal Kenyan candidate for Netflix’s hit show Young, Famous and African.
In a video shared on her TikTok page on Sunday, January 19, 2024, the cosmetician expressed her frustration, noting that many Kenyan celebrities might assume they are fit for the role when, in reality, they are far from qualifying for the show.
Ntazola explained that to be considered for a spot on the cast, one must be extraordinarily wealthy— not the type of rich flaunted on social media that often amounts to nothing tangible.
She elaborated that being part of the show requires high-end qualities, including impeccable class and flawless communication in English.
Moreover, she emphasized the importance of someone who can bring drama to the table, adding that Kenyans wouldn’t mind picking an unknown figure as long as they embody the required traits.
“Nataka mnisikize vizuri. As we’re picking a cast member to represent us in Young, Famous and African, we are picking serious real-life ballers. Madem wako na pesa. Like, seriously loaded and eloquent. Si watu wenye tunapeleka huko anatupatia show fake eti ako na pesa na hana. We want people who can communicate, people who can truly fly our flag. Unajua huku Instagram we are being scammed,” she remarked.
Learning from cast
The content creator, who recently went viral for urging Kenyans to stop throwing shade at Shiku Was Hii Styles, advised Kenyans to watch past seasons of the show to understand the lifestyle and calibre of its cast members.
She pointed out that many Kenyan celebrities claim to be wealthy but only plaster their supposed riches on social media without substance. She firmly stated that Kenya cannot afford to send someone who would end up embarrassing the country.
“Munaona watu wako kwa hiyo cast? Ini Edo, Zari, Kanyi Mbau. Please go read about them. They don’t play. When they say they can serve lifestyle and money, they mean it. So please, Kenya, when you’re picking a cast member, consider we don’t need embarrassment,” she said.
