Njambi Fever: I’d rather help the needy than give tithe to church

By , September 1, 2025

Kenyan content creator and blogger Njambi Fever has stirred a wave of conversation online after boldly declaring she would never give tithes to a church even if she made millions .

The content creator made her remarks on her official Instagram account on Monday, September 1 2025 while insisting she prefers helping the less fortunate directly as compared to giving thites.

She made her remarks following a candid post. Njambi questioned the traditional practice of tithing, asking: “If you earn Ksh 3 million per month, can you really give Ksh300,000 to your local church?” Her answer? a firm no.

“Hata shillingi sipeleki kanisa. Hear me out: I believe in giving back to the society BUT not to the church. Happy to help the less privileged when God blesses me so much with wealth, that’s 10% or so. I can’t!,” Njambi wrote.

Thithing culture

In her response, she argued that the concept of tithing should evolve into a “giving culture” that prioritises helping real people in need rather than financing luxurious lifestyles for some pastors.

“To send the Pastor to buy a car and build a mansion. Not me to each their own anyway! she revealed.

Now let’s say I make 100k then every month I go to church and give 10k, Very difficult. And there are many people who would be assisted by that 10k out here. Even better we just normalize tipping culture.

According to the content creator and a mother of one, Njambi, instead proposed normalising tipping service providers and helping individuals in need.

“If someone does you a good service, you give them two hundred, another one so and so… by the time the month ends, you’ve finished giving that 10k by helping a few people. They will pray for you and you will continue to be blessed,” she argued

In addition, she concluded unapologetically: “To send the pastor to buy a car and build a mansion? Not me. To each their own.”
