Activist Morara Kebaso is fundraising towards forming an initiative aimed at reshaping Kenya’s political landscape through the formation of an all-inclusive political outfit.

In a statement shared on his X account on Tuesday, September 16, 2024, Kebaso emphasised the need for a shift in the way political campaigns are funded in the country.

“We must change the culture of campaign financing in Kenya. We must identify, mentor, and fund leaders of integrity to take over power from thieves in Kenya,” Morara stated.

The outspoken activist said he plans to establish an office that will serve as a hub for Kenyans to collaborate and create the vision they want for their country.

“I am fundraising for our office, which will be a home to all Kenyans to come interact and draft the Kenya they want,” Morara said.

He urged supporters to contribute through various channels, including Mpesa, bank transfers, and PayPal.

He pointed out that many qualified individuals are unable to secure leadership positions due to the corrupt political culture.

“We must start, organise, and sustain our party or parties. We have good people in Kenya who are qualified and who are not greedy, but they are unable to get opportunities to lead our nation and its institutions. We have good laws but bad people in power everywhere from top to bottom,” he noted.

Adding;

“We have surrendered our democracy to them.”

The activist expressed concern over the state of leadership in Kenya, noting that while the country has good laws, it suffers from a lack of ethical leaders.

Kebaso said that this new political outfit will provide a platform for ethical leaders to emerge and for citizens to reclaim their democracy from corrupt individuals.

“Once the office is set up, we will have a more organised way of raising funds for civic education and better financial management structures.”

Luxury car

This comes barely a month after the businessman acquired a high-end vehicle, a registered KCJ 200W, for his public outreach tours. The vehicle is fitted with a presidential-style public address system to help him address large crowds.

Morara, who has gained popularity for challenging government spending, took to social media to call on graphic designers to help with branding and wrapping the vehicle. He encouraged them to send in their designs quickly, either through comments or direct messages.

This came shortly after the activist sought public donations to fund essential equipment for his civic education project. Morara posted on his X account, requesting contributions for items such as a generator, mixers, equalizer, speakers, and front LED lights to be used in his efforts to engage with the public.

He outlined two sound system options: a top-tier setup costing Ksh1.2 million and a more modest one priced at Ksh838,200. He has already raised Ksh325,000 and hopes to secure more donations.

Morara emphasised that all resources would be used exclusively for civic education and good governance campaigns, and he plans to organize caravans to rally citizens to join his cause.
