Moji Shortbabaa and wife expecting first child 4 years into their marriage
By Cynthia Lodite, July 31, 2025Gospel singer Moji Shortbaba and his wife, podcast host Nyawira Gachugi, have announced that they are expecting their first child after silent prayers and a long wait.
The couple went on to social media and shared the beautiful news with their fans on Instagram on Thursday, July 31, 2025, in a lovely video of them holding each other while singing a praise song.
The couple who got married in mid-2021, four years down the line, went ahead and revealed that they had silently prayed and trusted God to carry the blessing of a baby.
Similarly, the gospel minister, while further thanking God for the blessing, also acknowledged the honour of carrying their first child.
“The blessings of God are amazing. They serve as a reminder that he is concerned about what we pray for, even the prayers made in silence. We are so honoured to be trusted by God to carry this blessing,” stated the couple.

Moji and Nyawira’s Journey
Moji, who married Nyawira Gachugi in a private and stunning ceremony at Sovereign Suites in May 2021, has in the past opened up about why they remained childless for long.
In a past interview with a local Radio station, the Award-winning Kenyan gospel minister noted that the pressure to have a child only came from outsiders, especially their social media fans.
Further acknowledging that family and friends did not put pressure to have a baby.
“From my family, there is no pressure; our family is a little different. My grandmother doesn’t have pressure; the pressure is only out there from people who talk about their stuff. Out there, you know, people can give anyone as much pressure as they want,” he revealed.
At the time of the interview, Moji also revealed that he did not want to talk about the issue of children in people’s marriages because of a trauma he had, while revealing that her mum had him when she was very young.
“I don’t like to talk about children. My mother had me when she was 17. I wish I could talk more, but people should just wait for the results,” Shortbabaa added.
