Machachari actor reveals he grew out beards to stop being associated with character

Machachari actor Malik Lemuel known by many as Govi, has announced his decision to shed his signature beard and hair.

Through his Insta stories, the thespian expressed a desire to reclaim a more youthful appearance noting that a baby face would help since he is already in his mid-twenties.

He also revealed that he previously grew out his hair and beard because people were associating him with ‘Govi’ the character he played as a kid in Machachari for many years.

While expressing his gratitude for the fame he gained from being Govi, he also noted the need to break from the shadow of the childhood character.

“Shaving my beards and hair fully today, need to start looking 16 again. The reason why I decided to grow out beards and hair was coz I wanted to stop being associated with a character I played for such a long time (I’m grateful for the character because it has brought so many blessings to my life, but I have so much to offer than being associated with that character),” Malik shared.

“Without hair and beards, the baby face comes out and reminds people of ‘Govi.’ I’m in my mid-twenties now, and a baby face would help coz time pia inaenda sana manze. Let’s see how it goes,” he added.

Malik Lemmy’s career

In a past interview with Buzz Central, the actor shared that his journey in acting began at the tender age of 5 when he made his debut on Makutano Junction back in 2005.

His big break came when he auditioned for Machachari, landing the role of Govi, a character that propelled him to fame and allowed his talent to shine.

However, in 2018, he decided to part ways with Machachari. Currently, he can be seen in the Showmax series ‘Pepeta,’ where he portrays Dimory, a character known for being a charming ladies’ man with a selfish and easygoing attitude.

Despite these traits on screen, the actor emphasized that Dimory is quite different from his real-life persona.
