Kindiki attends Betty Bayo’s emotional funeral at Ndumberi Stadium
By Valerian Khakayi, November 20, 2025Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has joined the family and friends of the late renowned gospel singer Beatrice Mbugua, popularly known as Betty Bayo, to pay their respects at her funeral service held at Ndumberi Stadium in Kiambu County.
Speaking during the service on Thursday, November 20, 2025, Kindiki said he did not have the privilege of meeting with the late singer, but he loved her hit song dubbed 11th Hour.
“Mimi sikupata fursa ya kukutana na yeye lakini nilikuwa najua nyimbo yake moja ile ya 11th hour; hiyo wimbo mungu alitumia ulimi wa dada yetu iligusa mioyo ya wakenya wengi,” Kindiki said.

He further pledged financial support towards Betty’s children.
“Familia na kanisa wamesema kuwe na trust account ya wale wote wanaotaka kusaidia watoto wa dada yetu wapate elimu wasije kuaibika ilihali mama yao mzazi alikuwa baraka kwa watu wengi na pia kanisa, na kwa ajili ya hiyo mimi nitaungana na wale watasaidiana na watoto,” he added.
Betty will later be laid to rest at her Mugumo home, Kirigiti Road, near Kamiti Corner.
The funeral was marked by heartfelt tributes from family, friends, and colleagues, with many recalling Bayo’s contributions to the community. It also drew a large crowd, including political leaders, celebrities, and community members, reflecting the profound influence she had during her lifetime.
Betty’s death
According to her family representative, the celebrated singer passed away at 1:03 pm while receiving treatment at Kenyatta National Hospital.
The representative said Betty had been unwell since last week, suffering from acute leukaemia and excessive bleeding.

She revealed that she was initially admitted to AAR Hospital on Kiambu Road before being transferred to Kenyatta National Hospital on Friday, November 7, 2025.
“We are here at Kenyatta National Hospital’s private wing. The spouse, the father of their children, and friends of Betty Bayo want to inform the public that today at 1:03 pm, we have lost Betty, and it is no longer a rumour. Betty had been unwell since last week, suffering from acute leukaemia and excessive bleeding. She was first taken to AAR Hospital on Kiambu Road before being transferred here on Friday,” she said.
The family representative further explained that arrangements are underway to move her body to Kenyatta University Referral Hospital, and all further communications regarding the funeral and memorials will be shared in due course.
“The doctors did their best, but the will of God has been fulfilled. We are planning to move her body to Kenyatta University Referral Hospital, and all communications will follow,” the representative added.
