Coffin sellers in Kakamega Town took to the streets on Wednesday, August 7, to protest over what they termed as sabotage by the Kakamega County Referral Hospital morgue attendants.
The casket traders accused the mortuary attendants of directing bereaved families to buy coffins from other sellers outside Kakamega Town.
The aggrieved group says the morgue attendants have brokered a symbiotic deal between them (attendants) and the ‘foreign’ coffin sellers.
Carrying caskets on their shoulders, walking on foot, and riding boda bodas, the Kakamega coffin makers traversed the town while wailing, hoping to capture the attention of their “saboteurs” and, consequently, “warn them against their deeds”.
