Legendary Kenyan hip-hop artiste Jua Cali couldn’t contain his excitement when he found himself sharing a flight with the world athletics record breaker, Faith Kipyegon.
The star took to his Instagram page to post a video featuring the athlete to express his sheer joy at their encounter.
“Nimemeet Faith Kipyegon!! What!!! Niko karibu na greatness!!! We were on the same flight to Eldoret Noma!!” he wrote.
The two were en route to Eldoret.
Kipyegon, three-time world champion
At 29 years of age, Faith Kipyegon, a three-time world champion, secured her latest gold in the 1500m event in Budapest. She is now set to represent Kenya as one of the 21 athletes in the inaugural World Athletics Road Running Championships in Latvia.
Despite stiff competition, including a challenge from Olympic champion Sifan Hassan, Kipyegon clinched gold in the 5000m. Her next challenge will be hitting the road on October 1 in Riga, Latvia, during the World Road Running Championships.
Kipyegon has her sights set on breaking a world record in the mile during this championship, marking her debut in the World Championship road mile. As a world record holder and a leader of Kenya’s team in the showdown, she approaches this competition with confidence and determination.
