Jalang’o tells Eric Omondi not to rival him for Lang’ata MP seat, offers him an option
By Paulette Mboga, November 3, 2025Lang’ata Member of Parliament (MP) Phelix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang’o, has advised comedian and human rights activist Eric Omondi to consider joining active politics by contesting for the Embakasi East parliamentary seat.
In a post shared on his social media pages on Monday, November 3, 2025, Jalang’o thanked the people of Lang’ata for trusting him with their support and used the opportunity to encourage Omondi to step into politics.
Jalang’o acknowledged that Eric Omondi enjoys a significant following in Lang’ata, and he made it clear that he intends to engage with the comedian to convince those supporters to join his camp ahead of the 2027 polls.

“When people have confidence in what you do!! I thank the people of Langata for trusting me with this job! Siasa kidogo kazi kwa wingi!!! @ericomondi nipigie tuongee uniwachie hii mbogi yako, enda usimame Embakasii East, Babu anatoka anapanda juu!” Jalang’o wrote.

The MP’s message appeared to be in reference to Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino, who has already announced plans to move to a higher political position ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Babu Owino’s gubernatorial bid
In October 2025, Babu Owino declared that he would run for the Nairobi governor seat even if the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party decides to hand its ticket to the current governor, Johnson Sakaja.
Speaking during a radio interview on October 13, 2025, Babu said that no party decision will stop him from pursuing his dream of leading the capital.
“I know that Sakaja will be given the ticket for ODM, and I know how much I’m hated in our own house, but that will not prevent me from chasing my dreams,” he stated.

His statement confirmed his long-time interest in the city’s top job, which he has mentioned several times in past interviews and rallies.
Babu’s move has already attracted backing from some of his colleagues in Parliament. Among them is Mumias East MP Peter Salasya, who publicly endorsed him for the Nairobi governor position earlier in the year.
“In our formation, Hon @HEBabuOwino will be the Governor of Nairobi. Mimi kama Rais na sauti ya ukweli nimeweka mkono. We are all risk takers,” Salasya wrote on his X account on July 14, 2025.
