Guardian Angel shares why he cannot shift to secular industry

Award-winning gospel singer Peter Omwaka, better known as Guardian Angel, has revealed that he can never shift to the secular industry.

Speaking during a candid conversation with Alex Mwakideu, the musician said that he believes that the secular industry cannot be friendly to him, even if it generates more income.

Even though he is a talented singer who can sing other genres, Guardian says he prefers sticking to gospel, where he is more experienced.

Mimi siwezi amka leo nisema anaimba secular, yani hatakama the secular industry unafeel kama sahii ndio iko na biashara siwezi, kwa sababu hiyo secular inawork for hao and it doesn’t work for me,” he revealed.

“Yes, I am a talented artiste. I can sing. I can sing about love, but it does not work for me. What works for me is gospel – to sing about the things that God can do because this is what I have experienced better.”

He went on to say that, contrary to what other people claim about gospel songs not having good returns, he once earned Ksh 22 million from his catalogue.

“The most I have made is about Ksh 22 million from my catalogue,” he revealed.

Shift from reggae

In addition, Yesu si Mwizi hitmaker disclosed that at the beginning of his music career, he used to sing reggae songs, however, she changed the genre because of his target audience.

Mimi nikianza mziki nilikuwa na imba reggae sana, lakini nikajua audience ile God amenipea wasikie ile kitu nawaambia sasa nikipiga hii part kwa Ki-Jamaica hawaelewi so ni ngumu kusema nime ministeria huyu mtu kwa sababu haelewi chenye ninasema,” Guardian said.

Napenda reggae lakini siwezi kuimba kwa sababu audience wangu kuna ile kitu wanapenda kuisikia.”

Advice

He went on and advised upcoming musicians not to be in a rush to expect income from music, but first, they should make sure their songs are well distributed.

Mziki ni biashara, wakati unataka kuingia kwa mziki kabla uandike keti chini ujiambie mziki ni biashara nategemea kutoa livelihood yangu hapa. Unafaa uhakikishe music yako iko well distributed kwa all distributing channels,” he advised.

Makosa upcoming musicians huwa wanafanya ni kudhani the moment wameweka music kwa Youtube wanaanza kupata pesa.

The Seven Heaven Music studio founder added that as an upcoming musician, one should also establish his or her target audience, sound and stick to it.

“Also, establish your target audience. Once you have established it, make sure consistently wanisikia hiyo kutoka kwako. Once you have established your sound, stick to it,” he added.
