You filled the whole place but at what cost?

Self-proclaimed President of comedy Africa Eric Omondi now says he will still not recognize the just concluded Oktobafest which took place at the Ngong Racecourse, Nairobi between October 28 and 30.

Omondi who continues to lean into his prolonged experience in the entertainment industry to position himself as their ‘voice of reason’ says, the organizers sold themselves short to woo revellers.

In his response to radio host Kamene Goro who asked him to at least recognize the three-day event terming it as remarkable, he said the organisers put in a lot of work for the turnout.

He claims Nigerian artistes would pull the same crowd even if the charges were high.

“It took over 30 Kenyan Artists and a Ksh500 bob gate charge to fill up a Kenyan gig and you want me to clap. You must be high on something my friends. It only takes a single Nigerian to fill up a concert with gate charges up to Ksh15,000 na bado wanajazaa,” he wrote on Instagram.

Further, Eric Omondi criticised another recent event where Nigerian star Tiwa Savage was launching her MAC cosmetic line in Kenya with a Kenyan lineup suggesting that it should be the vice versa.

“Alafu why is Tiwa Savage Launching lipstick in Kenya and Femi performing for her? Why can’t it ever be the other way around? Femi aende Lagos a launch Lipstick alafu Tiwa performs for her. THINK BIG!!! WAKE UP!!! We will not Apploud Mediocrity!!!”

The event lined up a handful of celebrated Kenyan artistes including Nyashinski, Nadia Mukami, Khaligraph Jones, Mejja among others.
