Comedian and actor Steven Oduor Dede, alias DJ Shiti, has opened up about a difficult chapter in his life, expressing heartfelt gratitude to entertainers Bien-Aimé Baraza and Eddie Butita for helping him bounce back.

In an emotional message shared on his Instagram stories on Saturday, July 26, 2025, DJ Shiti credited the two stars with reigniting his confidence and giving him meaningful opportunities when he was at his lowest.

“Bien, thank you so much for giving me a chance to stand again. You gave me space, love, and support at a time when I needed it most. It feels like a new beginning, like being born again.Deals zinaniandama left, right, and centre. Shaka!!!” he stated.

Bien, a member of the celebrated boy band Sauti Sol, featured DJ Shiti in the music video for his hit single “All My Enemies Are Suffering,” exposing him to a wider audience and reinvigorating his brand.

Butita

Shiti also praised comedian and producer Butita for standing by him and offering him a role in the hit YouTube series Kamum, which has grown in popularity among online audiences.

“Butita, my brother, you have always had my back. You’ve been more than a friend; you are family. Your support reminded me of my worth when I almost forgot,” he added.

This is not the first time the comedian has acknowledged Butita for the role he has played in his career.

Speaking to Daniel ‘Churchill’ Ndambuki in a candid interview aired on July 5, 2020, he stated that his big break came when Butita introduced him to Abel Mutua.

“Butita really hyped me up, going as far as telling Abel that I was the real deal, and after asking for a demo, I showed him my YouTube clips, and just like that, he directed me to Henry Gachuna, who was auditioning (for roles in The Real Househelps of Kawangware),” the comedian recounted.

Furthermore, DJ Shiti said their support not only helped him recover but also made him stronger and more focused than ever.

“Because of both of you, I am up again, stronger, better, and focused. Asanteni sana. This journey means everything to me. Love and respect always,” he added.
