Churchill shocked after Harambee Stars suffer friendly humiliation against Senegal

The game saw Kenya struggle to cope with a dominant Senegalese side, who controlled play from start to finish. Despite creating a few moments of effort, Harambee Stars failed to break through, making the scoreboard look more like a comedy of errors than a football match.
Daniel Ndambuki, widely known as Churchill, known for his humorous takes on news and entertainment, shared an old video of Julius Malema. In the clip, Malema is heard saying, “This thing of scores, we must agree, you can score up to what. It is not right that we are seeing they are going to 6, 7… It is an unacceptable thing we need to regulate so that the integrity of the club is not swept away.”
Churchill added his own caption, writing, “Eish!! Our Harambee Stars…..Tulinyukwa 8-0!!!” His reaction quickly went viral as Kenyans tried to make sense of the embarrassing scoreline.

The match was painful to watch for many. Senegal, coming in as clear favourites, showed why they are one of Africa’s strongest sides. Every time Harambee Stars tried to push forward, Senegal’s defence and midfield swarmed them, turning any hopeful moment into a missed opportunity. Kenyans, who had high hopes after a relatively solid performance in CHAN, were left scratching their heads. Comments and reactions on social media ranged from shock to banter, with some poking fun at the team’s sudden “field sleepiness”, as Churchill hinted in his light-hearted sharing of the Malema clip. Many joked that Harambee Stars might need a refresher on basic football rules after the game.
While friendly matches are meant to test teams and build experience, this defeat will sting. Kenya will now need to regroup, work on defensive strategies, and find ways to regain confidence before their next international outings.
