Brian Chira’s grandmother on Tuesday paid him a glowing tribute during his funeral held at Githunguri, Kiambu County.
In her tribute, Chira’s grandma eulogised him as a God-fearing and supportive child who always took good care of his family.
The granny recounted that she became Chira’s primary guardian after his mother died when he was eight years old, she also recounted the TikToker’s childhood saying he was a responsible boy who had big dreams for the family.
While eulogising the fallen TikToker as a star, Chira’s grandma also remembered Chira for his efforts and sacrifices to keep them afloat, she particularly recalled how he would purposely shelve his dreams and ambitions to fulfil his cousin’s.
“Brian Chira was my first grandson, born by my first daughter. He has been my best friend since childhood, he was supportive and has been providing for us and has been obedient as always. He could wash his clothes, clean the house, and take care of his cousins. His only wish was to see us settle in our own modern house and have our own compound, he always wished the best for me, he made several sacrifices for me,” she said.
“He was in school but realised that I was struggling with his younger cousin, he opted to quit school and look for a job to make ends meet for us. Brian always made random visits at home. On his last visit which was on March 9, we talked about the family. I wish he knew how he was in society, but now I know, Brian is a star.”
The heartbroken grandma expressed immense sadness saying her grandson’s unexpected demise has left a big void in their lives.
“Brian has left a big void in our lives, he always asked me to love him the way he was and I loved him. My grandson, I loved you since you came into our lives. I will surely miss you. Say hi to your mom Sophia and Alice May you find peace,” she added.
Chira died in a hit-and-run accident involving a speeding lorry on Saturday, March 16, 2024.
The TikToker was hit as he attempted to flee from a bodaboda rider to avoid paying him moments after he alighted.
“Tukaenda tukafika junction so nlikua nataka kudivert kuenda nyumbani na unfortunately Brian alikua anaenda different direction so alikua anataka kumwacha hapo lakini venye alikua mveli alisema tena naomba munisongeshe munifikishe mahali fulani, tusonge mbele kidogo. Aya nkaambia boda boda tusonge alafu turudi unipeleke home. So after tumesonga tumefika mahali alituambia, akashuka tu pikipiki and then mtu wa pikipiki kumuitisha fare akaanza tu kukimbia. Before tu asonge two steps mbele hivi ndo gari ilitokea tu ikampiga, Canter ya white ili speed off ikaenda. Alipigwa akaenda distance then gari ikamfwata mbele ikampita juu,” a witness recalled.
