Baba Kaunty breaks silence on leaving Obinna show

Comedian Baba Kaunty has finally opened up about why he decided to leave Oga Obinna’s show, putting to rest rumours that he was fired.

Speaking during his podcast, he explained that leaving was his choice and was driven by a mix of personal and professional reasons.

“People always think that I was fired. No. I was the one who quit. Let’s not say that Obinna was the one who fired me. He was actually shocked to see that I left. Sometimes we leave to give room for someone else to benefit. Let’s not be selfish such that everything is always about you,” Baba Kaunty said.

He explained that his decision to leave the show was partly to give other content creators an opportunity to grow and showcase their talent.

“If I or Dem Wa Facebook had not left, others like Pamela Aely or Dapper Man would not have gotten the chance to shine brighter. Let’s give each other time and opportunities. Stay for a while and leave. Leave your legacy intact,” he explained.

Support and gratitude

Baba Kaunty also spoke about the impact of departures on other team members, particularly Dem Wa Facebook, who left the show shortly before him.

He explained how her exit affected her emotionally and how he tried to support her from afar.

“I never wanted to say this. After she left, Bebii was emotionally drained and stayed alone at home. Every morning, I would check online updates and make sure she was okay. That’s how I could support her while keeping my fans in the loop,” he recalled.

He urged fans to respect Obinna’s contributions to the team.

“I thank God that his studio keeps going, and for the fans to stop insulting him, he did a lot for us. To date, he is still my boss even though I do not work for him. The industry is too small to be rude or angry at people; you never know when you will bump into each other or work together again,” Baba Kaunty added.
