Azeezah reveals taking jobs without pay at beginning of her career
By Nancy Marende, October 14, 2025TV and radio personality Azeezah Hashim has opened up about the tough beginnings of her entertainment career, revealing that she took on several unpaid jobs just to gain experience and prove her worth.
Speaking at an interview with a local podcast on October 12, 2025, Azeezah said she often worked without pay and even used her own money to support others on set.
“There are a lot of jobs I did for free. Just nipeeni chance, naenda nachukua mshahara yangu yote nalipa dancers, security, videographer, and nabakia sina hata sumni. Nitatembea kuenda job, but at the end of the day, I’m like, “Maybe kuna time tu mtu ataona.”
The media star, who has built a reputation as one of Kenya’s most vibrant and hard-working presenters, said her rise to success has been gradual and filled with sacrifice.
“It’s been eight years. I took the stairs, not the lift. Imechukua long. But I’m proud of the process,” she shared.
Azeezah encouraged young women, especially those entering competitive industries like media and entertainment, to embrace patience and resilience rather than comparing themselves to others.
“Baby girls out there, we should normalise telling the girls the truth. Sometimes, let’s normalise taking longer routes, and it’s okay even when it takes longer,” she advised.
“Saa ile itakam, itakuwa very satisfying. Social media isifanye utake kujicompare sana na watu.”
Azeezah on dating
This comes a few weeks after the presenter denied claims that she is in a relationship with someone in government, insisting that the rumours are false.
Speaking on Instagram Live on Saturday, September 21, 2025, Azeezah said people are making baseless assumptions about her private life and clarified that, although she has a parent in government, she is not dating anyone.
“I have a parent in government, but… me dating someone in government? I am not dating anybody. Hapo mtakua mmenisingizia. Nitatoa muda wapi? Mimi sasa hivi niko Uganda; nimeshoot hadi usiku jana. Nimekuja nikalala tu. Najua, mnatafuta maneno eto ohh haiwezi kuwa,” Azeezah stated.
The popular media personality explained that her busy schedule does not allow her time to entertain such speculation.
She said she is busy, with no time to date. Azeezah, in the video, said that at the time, she had been engaged in late-night shoots, a commitment she said leaves her little time for anything beyond work.
