‘Allow my parents to rest!’ – Bahati speaks after man claims to his biological father
By Ascah Mwango, December 4, 2025Kenyan singer Bahati has spoken out again after a man went viral on TikTok claiming to be his biological father.
The elderly man went viral after releasing a video in which he claimed to be the father of the celebrated musician and asked for forgiveness for giving him up many years ago.
Taking to his Instagram page on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, Bahati asked them to stop joking and allow his late parents to rest in peace.
“Lakini wacheni jokes. Wacheni wazazi wangu wa pumzike kwa amani,” he wrote.

In the emotional clip, the man said he took Bahati to a children’s home because he did not have the means to raise him. He explained that he and Bahati’s mother struggled financially and feared that the child would not survive under their care.
“Bahati, I am asking for your forgiveness. I am your father, and since I saw that I was not capable of raising you, I decided to take you to a children’s home. I knew it would be good for you because if I threw you away, you probably would not be alive,” he said.
He added that Bahati’s mother was also alive and had appeared on social media looking for him.
“Your mum is also still alive, and you will see her on social media looking for you. I am your father, and I am sixty-nine years old. Even if it is a DNA test, we will do it. I am asking for your forgiveness. I stay in Western,” he said.
Mama Bahati
This comes a day after a viral TikTok video surfaced showing a woman claiming to be Bahati’s mother. The woman said she took him to a children’s home because she could not afford to raise him and believed he would have a better life under care.
“Bahati, mimi ni mama yako, nakuja mbele yako kukuomba msamaha, although uliambiwa mama yako alikufa. Mimi nilikuzaa na nikakupeleka children’s home. Sikuwa na uwezo, ndo maana nikakupeleka children’s home,” she said.
She added that she had carried the secret for years and was now ready to meet him and take a DNA test.
Shortly after watching the video, Bahati said he was shocked because he personally attended his mother’s burial more than twenty-five years ago. He said the claims forced him to revisit a painful part of his childhood that he never imagined he would question.
“But my mum died over twenty-five years ago. I personally attended the burial and witnessed her grave. This woman has confused me more. So what should I do?” he wrote.

Bahati later addressed the matter again and insisted the situation was serious and not a publicity stunt. He said that although he has been known for dramatic antics in the past, this time he had nothing to do with what was happening.
“Kenyans najua mimi ni king wa kiki, nimewapiganga vipindi miaka mingi, I confess, lakini ya huyu sihusiki,” he said.
He added that his older brother informed him that the woman had been trying to reach their family for five years, something that made the issue even more unsettling.
“This is a serious issue; it might look like a joke, but it is very emotional,” he said.

Bahati said the possibility that his mother might be alive would completely change his life. He explained that he was still processing the emotional shock while trying to guide his children through the confusion brought by the revelations.
“What if my mother is alive? I think that would change my life forever, so I will not brush it off. Maybe mimi hukuwa Mluyha na si Mkamba. I attended my mother’s funeral, I witnessed her being buried. I do not know, should I pursue this, get DNA? I do not even have the woman’s contact,” he said.
