Detectives drawn from the DCI rescued two thugs from facing jangle justice in Seasons Kasarani, Nairobi county.

In a statement, the duo had been cornered by an angry mob after snatching a phone and a handbag from a middle-aged woman who quickly raised an alarm.

Her plead for help attracted Boda Boda riders in the vicinity who immediately rose into accession and followed the two thieves while on their way to Hunters.

“The chase didn’t last long as the bikes caught up with the miscreants a few metres away, with the leading bike man identified as Jonte jumping from his speeding bike and landing on the ground with one thug. The other one was floored a few steps away after another Boda rider went for his jugular almost choking the life out of him,” part of the statement read.

After their capture, the duo were subjected to what locals termed as instant justice of blows and kicks before police officers rescued them.

They also recover all the stolen items.

The two thugs have since been taken into custody awaiting being arraigned in court.

“Luckily for the thugs, a Subaru ya mambaru (police vehicle packed with officers) that was packed to capacity from patrol approached and rescued them from the wrath of the angry mob. The lady who had been attacked earlier got her mobile phone and handbag back as the thugs were bundled into the waiting vehicle to face justice in a court of law,’ the statement read in parts.

“Detectives are cautioning members of the public not to take the law into their hands in such situations but to call our emergency hotline 0800 722 203 for action,” DCI noted.
