Presidential candidate George Wajackoyah on Monday, June 27, 2022, took the Roots party charm offensive to Raila Odinga’s backyard in Kisumu County.

While campaigning in Jua Kali area, where hundreds of mechanics turned up to receive him, the candidate claimed he had been sent by the Azimio la Umoja – One Kenya coalition opponent to deliver a special message on who not to vote for in the August polls.

Wajackoyah told the residents that he had forged a game plan with the ODM party leader that would see them form the next government.

Amid the raging debate on the possibility of the duo working together ahead of the forthcoming polls, Wajackoh has clarified that he never spoke to Raila.

In an interview on Wednesday, the presidential hopeful said he was dreaming and the remarks he made in Kisumu were tactical since the residents are known to be hostile to Raila’s perceived ‘enemies’.

In his dream, he claimed, Raila assured him of his support in his bid for the country’s top job.

“I was in Raila’s backyard. People have been stoned there. When you saw me sleeping on top of the car, I was dreaming. In my dream, because I am very spiritual, I was asking him ‘do you want me to die in Kisumu?’ Because this is Kondele, Ruto was stoned here. I have never spoken to Raila since I left the UK until two-three years ago when I met him with Junet Mohamed, just when I was passing by Serena (Hotel),” Wajackoyah said.

“I was asking him I am in your backyard what do I do. In that dream he told me I am pushing you to be president,” he added.

Wajackoyah hits out at opponents

At the same time, the candidate, who has promised to legalise bhang if elected, accused his opponents of spreading lies in the name of manifestos.

He said his administration will heavily rely on bhang and snake farming to pay the country’s public debt if he wins the August polls.

“This physiology of the first 100 days is all concocted in lies, and I am not going to talk about other parties because they have all told lies… I will be inheriting a debt and therefore we shall be looking at how to come out of this nonsense. We are in trouble,” he said adding that he will create the ‘Ministry of Herbs’ that will be headed by Dr Gwada Ogot.

Wajackoyah said his administration will also prioritise the war on graft. He vowed to hang individuals convicted of corruption in the country.

Other candidates in the presidential race are William Ruto of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party and David Mwaure Waihiga of Agano party.
