Candidate in Trans Nzoia fails to appear for KCSE exams over suspected parental dispute

While 831,015 candidates are sitting for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations across the country, one candidate at St. Joseph’s Boys’ High School-Kitale in Trans Nzoia County did not show up.

It is alleged that Gullet Abdi, whose admission number is 678 disappeared from school in May last year following a dispute between his parents.

Addressing the media after launching English Paper 1, Trans Nzoia County Commissioner Sam Ojwang said relevant authorities are following up on the matter.

“This school (St. Joseph’s Boys’ High School) had 711 candidates but only 710 are present for the exams. We are following up through the Principal to establish the missing candidate’s whereabouts, ” Ojwang’ said.

While at it, the County Security Committee chairperson warned parents against people who purport to be in possession of exams.

The administrator further warned politicians not to engage in politics around all the 246 examination centres in Trans Nzoia County.

An overall of 24, 365 students are writing their national examinations in Trans Nzoia County.
