Four police officers from West Pokot are nursing injuries after raiders stormed Makena Operation Camp inside Laikipia Nature Conservancy.

In a statement seen by K24 Digital, police say Pokot raiders infiltrated the camp and injured four officers who were guarding Makena operation camp.

“Please be informed that today 13/8/2021 suspected Pokot raiders raided Makena operation camp situated inside Laikipia Nature Conservancy (LNC) at 1640hrs, the officers repulsed them,” the police report read in part.

After the raiders were repulsed by officers during the attack, four officers were injured:

Corporal Isaac Koech, suffered pain on the right chest after he was hit on the body armour and is on a stable condition.

Police Constable John Kipng’et of GSU sustained a gunshot wound on the lower limb of the right hand while his counterpart Audrey Waliaula of Nandi hills police station sustained gunshot wound on her left cheek.

“Samwel Nang’iro (LNC Ranger) sustained a gunshot wound on the left foot, most probably caused by a scratch from ricochet,” the police report read in part.

“Due to the heavy rains that renders impassable weather roads within LNC, it was a challenge for quick response however they were given first aid by KDF medical staff and taken to Sipili nursing home for further management and reference to any other advanced medical facility depending on each case ,” the police report read in part.
