The musician was the only surviving child of Wanjaro family and brother to the late Kikuyu Benga musician George Wanjara who died in 2007. One of the most popular songs Wanjaro would be remembered with is Wendo ni Mugeria.

He left behind two children and a wife, Molline Atieno who claimed that the extended family isolated and disinherited her after her husband’s death.
