Kenya Wildlife Services(KWS) officers on Sunday evening arrested three poachers hawking game meat in Kajiado town.

The three were nabbed at Saina Estate within Kajiado town.

William Muya Mwange,27, Samuel Nzioka,40, and Stephen Kilonzo Kimeu,40, were allegedly in possession of grant’s gazelle meat weighing approximately 10 kilograms.

During the arrest, the officers discovered an improvised slasher, two improvised torches mounted with sirens, blood-stained clothing, and two gunny sacks that they were using to carry the bushmeat.

They have since been booked at the Kajiado Police Station, awaiting to be arraigned at the Kajiado law courts.

Poaching incidents have become rampant in Kajiado which is at the heart of two national parks and several private wildlife sanctuaries.

Wild animals occasionally stray out of the parks destroying farms and pasture lands.

These wild animals become a major target for poachers who kill them and supply their meat to local butcheries who then sell them to unsuspecting customers.
