Former Harambee Stars striker Ali Kajo is dead.
The veteran footballer, who was a key player in the 1960s and 1970s Kenyan team, died on Monday, December 28, 2020, at a hospital in Mombasa County.
Kajo’s family said that he died after a long illness.
The footballer is survived by a widow, 12 children and several grandchildren.
In September this year, a cross-section of Kenyans fundraised to help Kajo build a better house for his family.
Legend has it that he was renowned for powerful football shots such that one goalkeeper opted to ran away from a Mombasa field with the ball when Kajo was about to take a penalty.
Many Twitter users on Monday mourned the death of the legend.
