A third suspect in the brutal murder of Kevin Omwega was on Thursday arraigned in court in Nairobi.

The investigating officer, who is attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) urged the court to detain the suspect, a Congolese man identified as Yatha Bahati Josue, for seven days to allow police complete investigations.

The DCI officer said the suspect’s phone, a Samsung A10, was used to communicate with the murder suspects when the killing happened.

The detective said that Josue was in constant communication with Kevin Omwenga and the two men charged with his death, Chris Obure and Robert Bodo before and after the shooting.

Josue was arrested on Wednesday, September 9, and detained at the Capital Hill Police Station.

Police suspect that the killing was orchestrated after a deal went south.

Through his lawyer Samson Nyamberi, the Congolese national objected to the detention request and asked the court to release him on bail pending investigations.
