Narok Senator Ledama ole Kina has backed down from his tussle with Orange Democratic Party over the leadership of powerful committee.
According to a statement shared by ODM leader Raila Odinga on Tuesday, May 26, Ole Kina agreed to withdraw the case he filed against the party.
The Senator moved to court after the party de-whipped him from the County Public Accounts and Investment Committee (CPAIC) and the Senate Business Committee.
Ole Kina had contested and won the election as CPAIC chairman against the party’s preferred choice, Kisii Senator Sam Ongeri.
When the party de-whipped him, a defiant Kina vowed to fight his removal.
But now the senator has not only agreed to withdraw his case but also to apologize to the party, according to Raila.
“Narok Senator Ledama ole Kina has this morning agreed to withdraw the case he had filed against ODM over the Senate Public Accounts Committee chairmanship, surrendered the seat and apologized. In return I’ve instructed the party to reverse the decision to de-whip the senator,” Raila.
