Detectives in Mombasa have arrested one person and seized several rolls of bhang of an undisclosed value.
In the operation led by officers drawn from the Anti-Narcotics Unit, the officers acting on intelligence intercepted Dominic Oseko Ngisa as he was driving along the Mombasa-Nairobi Road.
A search conducted on his vehicle revealed the confiscated bhang hidden in the car boot.
Dominic was then arrested and escorted to the Jomvu Police Station where he will be processed pending arraignment.
“In an operation fueled by intelligence, detectives from the Anti-Narcotics Unit Mombasa, made a significant breakthrough by arresting Dominik Oseko Ngisa, the driver of a suspicious Toyota Axio, Registration no. KCK 544J at Jomvu along the bustling Mombasa-Nairobi Road.
“A thorough search of the vehicle revealed large rolls of cannabis cleverly hidden in the boot, showcasing the lengths to which traffickers will go,” detectives said in a statement.
In a separate incident, police stationed at the Kiembeni Police Station raided a house near Kiembeni Primary School and recovered six sacks of bhang.
Efforts to arrest the individual involved in the trafficking, however, bore no fruit as he managed to escape immediately after the officers arrived at the scene. A manhunt has since been launched to trace his whereabouts.
