Kenya is Africa’s pride when it comes to tours and travel. For years, it has been a popular destination for renowned global leaders, spiritual leaders, international celebrities as well as influencers.
In 2024, Kenya has played a host to prominent people; from influencers to law enforcers.
Here are the globally renowned personnel who visited Kenya this year.
Benny Hinn
The renowned American televangelist Benny Hinn on February 24- 25, 2024 held a mega crusade at Nyayo Stadium.
The two-day prayer meeting saw prominent figures including President William Ruto, First Lady Rachel Ruto, former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Nairobi Women Rep Esther Passaris and government spokesperson Isaac Mwaura among other high-profile Kenyan preachers attending the event.
During the event, Hinn showered praise on Kenya, describing the country as blessed, and he specifically lauded the First Lady for her role in the nation’s leadership.
According to Hinn, Kenya had a unique advantage due to its righteous government, and he conveyed that the country was in a special place spiritually.
It was his second time visiting Kenya after two decades.
King of squats
Famous South African fitness instructor Nkululeko Dlamini widely known as the King of Squats, visited Kenya for a fitness event dubbed King Fitness Explosion Challenge held at Waterfall Mall in Karen Nairobi County on Saturday, September 21, 2024.
Known for his lower body workouts, the fitness trainer shared tips on growing bigger glutes with his Kenyan fitness enthusiasts.
Apart from Nairobi, he also visited Nyeri County courtesy of the Churchill Show, during the live recording, he shared his expert advice for women seeking to achieve the much-coveted behinds.
He emphasized the importance of a dedicated exercise routine, a balanced diet, and lifestyle changes.
”It’s possible, as long as you’re consistent and doing workouts and eat well, mostly proteins, no potatoes, avocados, fish meat and milk,” he advised.
“More protein, with the high protein you can get ‘nyash’.”
Glen Washington
Kenyan reggae fanatics were elated after the veteran Jamaican Maestro Glenroy Washington landed on October 9, 2024.
The sensational reggae who visited the country for the third time gave his fans an electrifying performance at KICC on Saturday, October 19, during the Mashujaa peace concert dubbed Africa-bound reggae Summer Fest 2024.
Unlike in Nairobi, his show in Nakuru County on November 2, had a low turnout.
Glen who was accompanied by his wife Jackie Whyte who is also his manager stayed in the country for more than two weeks.
Burning Spear
Known for his influential contributions to reggae music, legendary Winston Rodney better known by his stage name Burning Spear serenaded his Kenyan fans with his soulful music at Nairobi’s Uhuru Park on Saturday, November 2.
Jamaican singer performed in the country as part of his One People Africa Tour.
Despite being old in the game, the Slavery Days hitmaker has captivated generations with his music advocating African unity and justice.
The two-time Grammy award-winning reggae icon returned to Kenya after 17 years.
Ruger
Nigerian multitalented singer Michael Adebayo Olayinka widely known as Ruger headlined the Raha Rave festival on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Sarit Centre in Nairobi County.
During his visit, he met with his Kenyan doppelganger Ruger wa Kayole at a live show interview with a local TV station in Nairobi, on Friday night of August 2, 2024.
He expressed gratitude towards his impersonator revealing that he was excited and couldn’t wait to meet his impersonator finally.
“So we have Ruger wa Kayole we want to bring him so that you can gange him, “the TV host said.
“Ooh amazing, ooh amazing, definitely,” Ruger responded.
While welcoming his impersonator on stage, Ruger, showed love towards his imitator adding that he will henceforth be referred to as Kenyan Ruger from the initial Ruger wa Kayole.
“Now it is Kenyan Ruger, not Ruger wa Kayole, as a professional, guess what I saved a TikTok video from him yesterday, yes I saved a Tiktok from him, I love you bro nice work you are doing,” Ruger appreciated.
Dave Chappelle
The iconic American stand-up comedian and actor Dave Chappelle performed in Kenya for the first time on Wednesday, May 29.
The show tickets which were going at Ksh 7, 000 sold out in just two hours after the show organisers Punchline Comedy Kenya posted on their Instagram page.
The quick ticket soldout confirmed how famous Chappelle is and the popularity surrounding his performance.
With a no-phone policy, which means that attendees were not permitted to use their mobile phones during the performance, something Chappelle has always highly advocated. The concert was hosted at Louis Leakey Auditorium at 7:00 pm, East African time.
FBI director
During his Africa tour to meet with vital law enforcement and intelligence partners, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) director Christopher Wray on June 14 visited Kenya.
While in Kenya, he met with senior officials from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), National Intelligence Service (NIS), Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), and Office of Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).
He also attended the first commander’s meeting of the Joint Terrorism Task Force in Kenya (JTTF-K).
Etana
Jamaican reggae queen Shauna McKenzie widely known as Etana captivated her Kenyan fans in December 2024.
This marks the seventh time the Weakness In Me hitmaker has visited the country. Her last visit was three years ago, and she has often expressed her deep connection to Kenya, citing the warm reception she always receives from fans.
