Popular event organizer cum emcee Chris Kirwa has aired his opinion following the recent sold-out tickets at Dave Chappelle’s standup comedy show.
Through his official social media account, Chris stated that the reason why the tickets were sold out was because of the venue’s capacity adding that as a famous international entertainer, he should have gotten more people to attend his event.
“So an international stand-up comedian is in Kenya and the tickets are sold out to all those asking me if they can get Ticos My take is Tickets are sold out because of venue capacity limit.”
“Such an International Entertainer can get over 10,000 – 15,000 people to attend remember I keep talking about our lack of a modern Event venue that can accommodate more than 10,000 pax,” he said.
The event organizer went further to say that as a country we need to invest more in event venues that can hold a larger capacity.
“Now you know why I keep saying we don’t need malls but event venues bragging about venues of 2500 pax or less is a 30-year-old bragging right.”
“One day someone will invest in a modern Convention centre of 20,000 capacity and we will realize what it means to our economy MICE is the way to get people touring Kenya,” he said.
Dave Chappelle’s standup comedy show
Being his first performance in Kenya, this was a quick confirmation of how famous Chappelle is and the popularity surrounding his performance.
The concert holds a no-phone policy, something Chappelle has always highly advocated. It will be hosted at Louis Leakey Auditorium where the gates will open at 7:00 pm, East African time.
