Safina party leader Jimi Wanjigi has claimed threats to his life by unknown men that he claims are state agents.

Speaking on Sunday, September 29, 2024, before being barred from attending a church service at AIC Kasina in Mlolongo, Wanjigi claimed threats and intimidation from the government over his stand against the government.

“The other day they blocked a car that had just dropped me somewhere. Two Subarus blocked that car and threw eggs at the windscreen. Last night the same vehicles came here and poured blood at my gate. That is an act of warning. That is an act to say, we are going to spill your blood. This is every single day they are doing this. We are not intimidated, either me or my family,” he stated.

“For the last 27 days, when I leave my residence, I am followed everywhere I go. They even want me to know they are following me. They come up to where I am sitting or driving and they photograph me. For the last 27 days, there has been a car parked outside my residence that does nothing else but make sure I cannot talk on my phone, I cannot watch TV and I cannot get any signal in or out of that residence.”

Wanjigi vs Ruto

Moments after being denied entry at AIC Kasina church in Mlolongo, Wanjigi, who was in the company of Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, DAP-K party leader Eugene Wamalwa and other opposition leaders, accused President William Ruto of using the police to intimidate leaders against his administration.

“William Ruto is using the same police to kill and abduct and to bring back detention without trial. All those officers know that your day shall come. You shall answer for all these atrocities you are perpetuating on Kenyans,” he added.

Cöurt order

The businessman’s alarm follows a recent ruling by the High Court that barred police from invading his Muthaiga residence pending the outcome of an application filed by his wife, Irene Nzisa Wanjigi.

High Court Judge Joe Omido, on September 11, 2024, issued an order restraining acting Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli or any officers under his command from confiscating or destroying any property belonging to the Wanjigi family until the matter is resolved.

The cöurt case stems from an incident on August 8, 2024, when Wanjigi, along with his children, accused police officers of raiding their home, destroying property, and confiscating items.
