Sports and Youth Affairs Cabinet Secretary (CS) Kipchumba Murkomen has congratulated Faith Kipyegon after her impressive performance in the 1500m race at the Athlos NYC 2024.
In his statement, the CS expressed excitement in the athlete’s win saying it was a sensational victory that cements her status as one of the greatest middle-distance runners.
The CS also congratulated Susan Ejore who finished third in the race after clocking at 4:06.25.
“Congratulations to Faith Kipyegon for yet another sensational victory! The win at ATHLOS NYC 2024 cements her status as one of the greatest middle-distance runners. Hats off, too, to Susan Ejore, who finished in third position,” he wrote on his official X account.

Kipyegon won the race after clocking at 4:04.79 securing a $60,000 (Ksh7.7 million) prize money.
She was trailed by Diribe Welteji who finished at 4:05.57.
In the same event, athlete Mary Moraa finished second during the 800m race after being defeated by Ethiopia’s Tsige Duguma who clocked at 1:57.43.
The event launched by entrepreneur Alexis Ohanian – Serena William’s husband- is an all-women gathering representing a significant milestone in the progress of women’s sports.
All winners of the various races will receive the prize money of $60,000.
