The Public Service Commission (PSC) has officially announced the recruitment for the Public Service Internship Programme (PSIP) for the 2024/2025 Financial Year.
In an advertisement published on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, PSC stated that the interns would be paid a stipend at a rate determined by the government and upon completion they would be awarded a certificate recognising their contribution and participation.
The twelve-month program is non-renewable and targets interns in cohort seven.
“Duration of Internship 12-month non-renewable, stipend, the interns will be paid a stipend at a rate as determined by the government and on successful completion of the internship programme, the interns will be awarded a certificate,” the PSC announcement reads.
According to PSC, the programme aims to provide graduates with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various ministries, departments and agencies as part of the youth empowerment strategy.
PSC further stated that under PSIP, the graduates will be equipped with practical skills to enhance their opportunities for employment, networking and entrepreneurship.
“The Public Service Commission (PSC) is pleased to announce the recruitment of interns (Cohort 7) under the PSIP for the Financial Year 2024/2025. Recruitment of interns for government Ministries, Departments and Agencies, the Public Service Internship Programme (PSIP) is a Government youth empowerment programme whose main objective is to offer college graduates the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and build skills to enhance their chances for employment, networking and entrepreneurship,” PSC announced.
Requirements, the application process
The application whose deadline is September 2, 2024, is done through the Commission’s job portal and requires eligible candidates to have a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized institution and have graduated not earlier than 2018.
“For appointment to an internship position, a candidate must: have a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university; have graduated not earlier than the year 2018; and be proficient in computer skills,” PSC announced.
“Interested and qualified graduates are requested to make their applications through the Commission’s job portal accessible through www.publicservice.go.ke or www.psckjobs.go.ke by 2nd September 2024.”
During the program, interns will be needed to complete assigned duties mutually, participate in mentorship activities and document relevant skills acquired.
“Duties include, but are not limited to; Completing duties mutually agreed upon and assigned by the supervisors; Documenting relevant skills acquired in their areas of deployment; and Actively participating in any relevant mentorship activities and additional responsibilities designed for the programme,” PSC stated.
