The Cabinet Secretary nominee for the Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development Alice Wahome’s net worth stands at Ksh327 million.

Wahome’s wealth has surged by Ksh109 million, having been valued at Ksh218 million during her vetting in 2022.

During her appearance before the National Assembly Committee on Thursday, August 1, 2024, Wahome explained that her wealth increased modestly over the past 21 months due to rental arrears from her tenants and the appreciation of some of her properties.

“My net worth, mine and my husband’s, is Ksh327 million. It was slightly less when you last vetted me, it was Ksh218 million,” Wahome disclosed during the session.

When questioned about the growth, Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetang’ula remarked, “So you have had some nominal growth.”

“Kidogo,” Wahome responded.

“It is the properties that have increased in terms of appreciation in value. One tenant was not paying my family rent and they paid about Ksh14 million sometime in March,” she added.

Wahome, who previously held the position before has been renominated as part of President William Ruto’s newly reconstituted cabinet.

During her vetting in October 2022, she disclosed that her assets included family properties jointly owned by her husband.

She informed the committee that her income sources at the time consisted of her salary as an MP, which she received until September, and a fuel allowance of Ksh100,000 from her law firm.

“And from these properties, some of them are in my name, I get about Ksh500,000 a month,” she mentioned.

The former Kandara MP also revealed that she had been practising law at the Wahome and Akedi Advocates firm in her spare time, which she noted was limited.
