The four Chinese nationals who were accused of caning their Kenyan workers are on a flight to China, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has said.

The DCI said that they handed over the four Chinese to the Immigration Department on Wednesday following High Court’s deportation order on Wednesday.

“Following an order issued by Milimani High Court in criminal revision number 22 of 2020 that four Chinese Nationals be repatriated back to their country of origin, @DCI_Kenya detectives based at Kilimani have handed over the four to @ImmigrationDept officers based at JKIA..,” said DCI on Wednesday via Twitter.

The detectives also confirmed that the plane carrying the four Chinese nationals was scheduled for take-off on Thursday at 8:30 am.

“…The flight carrying the four will leave JKIA at 0830Hrs,” said DCI.

It was the K24 Digital team that published the disturbing video clip that showed a senior Chinese chef whipping a Kenyan waiter over allegations of reporting late to work.

The video was recorded by a frightened Kenyan worker who witnessed the horrific incident at the Chez Wou Restaurant in Kileleshwa, Nairobi.

Investigations quickly led to the arrest of the four Chinese nationals who were found to have violated visa and work permit regulations.

The High Court ordered the four detained for 15 days pending the conclusion of investigations even as the Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi order their deportation.

The court suspended the deportation order but eventually on Wednesday budged after the Chinese nationals said they prefer deportation over “suffering” in Kenya.
