The Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Jacob Ondari on Monday accused Embakasi East MP Babu Owino of attempting to interfere with witnesses in his attempted murder case.

Mr Ondari told the court that Babu is well known to DJ Evolve, whom he is accused of shooting with an intent to kill, and has been trying to reach out to his father.

“We protest this conduct. In so doing, he is attempting to interefere with the witnesses in the case,” said Mr Ondari.

Babu, who was arraigned in court on Monday morning, pleaded not guilty to the two charges levelled against him.

The Embakasi East MP was charged with attempted murder and behaving in a disorderly manner with a firearm.

Mr Ondari has opposed Babu’s application to be released on bail.
