Kenya Airways board has named Allan Kilavuka its acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) effective January 1, 2020.
Mr Kilavuka currently serves as the CEO of KQ’s subsidiary Jambojet Ltd.
“It is a pleasure to welcome Allan to the Kenya Airways tean, and we look forward to his leadership and contributions during this period of transition,” said KQ board chairman, Michael Joseph.
Mr Kilavuka is set to steer the company as it searches for a substantive holder following Sebastian Mikosz’s resignation.
The outgoing CEO, Mikosz, notified the national carrier in May 2019 that he would be exiting before his contract ends on “personal grounds.”
“It is my personal decision and I have obviously discussed it with the board as well as my family,” Mr Mikosz said in an internal memo.
He leaves the post effective December 31, 2019.
