A night security guard manning an electronics shop in Gatua trading centre on the outskirts of Kitale town, Trans Nzoia County was murdered in the wee hours on Tuesday morning.

Jackson Muganda, a trader in that centre, told K24 Digital that the unknown people broke into the shop and robbed several electronics whose value is yet to be established.

“We are saddened that we have lost a security guard who was brutally murdered by robbers. He was cut multiple times on the head and other parts of the body,” Muganda said.

He added that the shop had been robbed again two months ago and appealed to security agencies to heighten security patrols in the trading centre.

“We feel our security is greatly compromised. We feel not safe and ask security officers to up their game so that we can do our businesses without fear of being robbed and murdered,” he urged.

Kiminini Sub County Police Commander John Onditi confirmed the incident and said police officers have launched investigations to establish the people behind the heinous act.

“The incident occurred at around 3:00 am. At the same time, there was a road accident in that area” Onditi said.

The police boss revealed that the robbers had a vehicle and that the incident was discovered by students who were heading to school in the morning.

He added that the middle-aged guard succumbed to stab injuries while being rushed to Kitale County Referral Hospital in Trans Nzoia.

The guard’s body is lying at the hospital’s morgue.
