Ugandan socialite and reality TV star Zari Hassan has penned a heartfelt message to celebrate her only daughter, Latifah Dangote, as she turned a year older.

She reflected on her role as a mother, noting that her responsibility is to guide Latifah as she grows, but ultimately prepare her to one day stand on her own.

Zari also encouraged her daughter to uphold high standards in life, reminding her to always carry herself with confidence and dignity.

“Happy birthday 🎂, young lady, my responsibility is to guide you, then let you go one day…Keep your standards higher than your heels,” she wrote.

Latifah Dangote, popularly known as Princess Tiffah, is the daughter of Zari and Tanzanian music star Diamond Platnumz. She was born on November 6, 2015, and is Diamond’s first daughter. At the time of her birth, her paternity was surrounded by speculation until a DNA test conducted in South Africa confirmed that Diamond was indeed her father.

Zari and Diamond’s love story began years earlier when Zari reached out to the singer on social media, asking him to headline her annual white party. What started as a simple request blossomed into one of East Africa’s most high-profile celebrity relationships. The two would later welcome two children together, Latifah and Prince Nillan.

However, their romance came to an end in 2018 after a highly publicised breakup. Infidelity was one of the key reasons for their split, with Diamond admitting that he had cheated on Zari with model Hamisa Mobetto.

Despite the painful separation, the two have since maintained a working relationship for the sake of their children. They have appeared together at family functions and even featured on the Netflix reality series Young, Famous & African, where their journey as ex-lovers and co-parents played out on screen.

Diamond recently revealed that he and Zari almost rekindled their romance during the filming of season one of Young, Famous & African.

Speaking on a podcast on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, the award-winning singer said the chemistry between them was undeniable, and they even considered getting back together.

“We began filming for YFA when Zari and I had just broken up. So when we started doing the show, we almost got back together. I was not with Zuchu at the time. Then I thought about it and said, if we are going to do that, I would not be able to be free to do whatever, I have to behave,” Diamond said.

He explained that being in a relationship would have limited his freedom at a time when he needed to embrace the playboy persona expected of him on the reality show.

“For me to play the character I play, the playboy behaviour, I would need to be single,” he added.
