By Cynthia Lodite, November 15, 2025City lawyer Willis Otieno has warned Kenyans against embracing legacy politicians while dismissing their leadership as one merged with entitlement and obstruction.
Taking to his official X account on Saturday, November 15, 2025, the lawyer firmly described how legacy politicians are the biggest stumbling block to Kenyan freedom.

On his part, he accused the old politicians of inheriting power like family furniture and having spent decades recycling the same tired speeches, the same empty promises, and the same corrupt networks.
“Legacy politicians are the biggest stumbling block to our freedom. They inherited power like family furniture and have spent decades recycling the same tired speeches, the same empty promises, and the same corrupt networks,” Willis wrote.
He went on describing how the same politicians would appear only when cameras roll, pretend to speak for the people, and then vanish into convoys and comfort.
“They appear only when cameras roll, pretend to speak for the people, then vanish into convoys and comfort. These are the men and women who treat politics like inheritance, not service,” Willis noted.

On the other end, Willis explained how the set of politicians have watched poverty deepen while also watching youth desperation rise.
“They have watched poverty deepen, watched youth desperation rise, watched public institutions collapse, and still have the audacity to tell us they ‘know the way.’ If Kenya is to move forward, we must stop romanticising political fossils,” he added.
“Their legacy is not leadership; it is decay, entitlement, and obstruction. The future belongs to those willing to break the chains, not polish them,” he said.

Havi slams Mudavadi
His remarks come after former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Nelson Havi took a swipe at Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Musalia Mudavadi, declaring that his political time is up and urging residents of Western Kenya to demand better leadership.
Speaking in a TV interview on Thursday, August 21, 2025, Havi dismissed Mudavadi’s claim that African presidents typically serve 10 years, questioning the logic behind it and urging the people not to accept what he described as “nonsense”.
“Which Africa is he talking about? Is Zambia not in Africa? Is Ghana not Africa? Let’s not clap for his statements when he says such things. Instead, stand up and send him home,” Havi stated firmly.
