Wednesday blackout to affect parts of 5 counties
By Ascah Mwango, October 21, 2025Kenya Power has announced a scheduled power interruption that will affect parts of five counties on Wednesday, October 22, 2025.
In a notice issued on Tuesday, the company said the temporary outage is part of its routine network maintenance aimed at improving service reliability.

In Nairobi County, the blackout will affect parts of Joska and Parklands areas. Among those expected to experience the interruption include residents and businesses around Gatuoro, the Eewage Plant, Watoto Wema, Kwa Mama Christine, Sewage Shopping Centre, Githunguri, parts of Utawala, Corner C, Corner D, Block 10, Manyatta, Myland, and Eka Tano. The outage in these areas will run from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
In Parklands, power will be interrupted from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The affected areas include First, Second and Third Parklands Avenues, Doctors Plaza, Batubatu Estate, Masari Road, Sivachi Road, Dovu Lane, Mwani Road, Ring Road, and parts of Mpaka Road.
In the Central Rift region, parts of Bomet County will also be affected, including Olpisiai, G K Prisons, Kilgoris, Lolgorian, Mararianda, Kichwa Tembo, Angama, Partakilat, Mara Engai, Mara West, Angata Barrikoi, Gwitembe, Oldonyorok, and Masurura. The interruption in this region will run from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
In the Western region, parts of Kisumu County will experience a power outage from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The affected areas include Kibos Prison, Tamuwa, Ibo, White Coal, Sugar Research, and Kajulu Water.

In the South Nyanza region, several parts of Kisii County will also be affected. The areas include Gotichaki, Nyabigena, Matangamano, Marongo, Orencho, Manywanda, Nyakembene, Boige, Tabaka, Kiorina, Kiamabundu, Ikoba, Nyaburumbasi, Riosiri, Nduru, and Esaka. Institutions such as Gotichaki Primary and Secondary Schools, Nyabigena Boys and Girls Secondary Schools, Marongo Polytechnic, and Nduru Hospital are also listed among those that will be affected.
Additionally, Nyangusu, Mara Tea, Kiango, Shankoe, London, Egembe, Magena, Emesa, and Mogonga will experience power interruptions from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
In the North Eastern region, parts of Kiambu County, including Rironi and Ngecha, will be affected. The outage will also extend to areas around KBC Tilisi, Mahinga, and Swach.
